What's a Chavli?

I grew up in Pakistan and between the ages of 12 and 17, I went to a boarding school called Cadet College Hasanabdal located, funnily enough, in a town called Hasanabdal.

As anybody who has ever been part of a close-knit group will know, each such group develops its own colloquialisms, and so did we.

One of the myriad words we used was chavli. It is a Punjabi word -- a noun -- and it means something silly or ill-thought. It's a fun little word that we used to use and I've decided to use it for my blog because it reminds me of a simpler time.

This is a place where I intend to collect bite-sized nuggets of information that I discover to help me, and hopefully others, in future.
